Important advice useful for your stay in Florence:

  1. We invite you to observe and experience the wonders that the city can offer you with distance (this word seems strange here) and respect..

  2. Stay away from the tourist attractions when you’re hungry — restaurants are generally overpriced in the main center, we recommend you a list of places to visit and have a great cultural dining experience during your stay! Visit our Gastronomical Recommendations

  3. Be sure to check what the current exchange rate is before you go.

  4. Please remember that nearly all the museums in Florence are CLOSED ON MONDAYS! .

  5. Validate your train ticket no matter what train you get: you can use the self-service ticket sales kiosks inside Florence train station. Also always validate your bus tickets in the machines on board the bus.

  6. Always TRY and attempt a few words of the local language, it will be appreciated and (sometimes) rewarded with lower prices.

  7. Take it slow; don't rush from site to site: The real key to enjoying Florence is take time to take in the architecture and atmosphere.

  8. If you have a car, be aware of ZTL areas: restricted traffic zone. You cannot enter into the city center during the following times:

  • Weekdays from 7:30 am to 8 pm/ Saturdays from 7:30 am to 4 pm

This also means that after 8pm on weekdays, after 4pm on Saturdays and all day Sunday, the ZTL IS ACCESSIBLE to anyone, not just those with permits.
